ThermHex Waben extends his product portfolio

ThermHex Waben GmbH, the daughter company of EconCore, is producing a unique thermoplastic honeycomb core for lightweight panels and components in a continuous production process. Until now, the manufacture of these honeycombs required diverse individual steps which made the products more expensive. The honeycomb had to be manufactured individually and non-woven layers had to be joined subsequently. At ThermHex Waben GmbH, all of this can be done in a single step.

The ThermHex materials and process is protected by international patents and involves extruding a polypropylene film, direct rotational vaccum forming and folding to a PP honeycomb core. 

This process allowed up until now the production of honeycomb cores 3 to 30 mm thick, with individual lengths of up to 6 metres and at speeds of up to 10 metres per minute. With a new tool, ThermHex Waben GmbH is able to offer customers now much thicker PP honeycomb cores. The ThermHex PP honeycomb production process combines maximal weight and cost saving with resource efficiency and low consumption of raw material.
