Coretinium®: A new Tata Steel material based on EconCore’s innovative ThermHex technology

TATA Steel introduces a new product based on EconCore’s patented honeycomb core production technology, combining TATA´s steel with a polymer honeycomb in a continuous process. TATA Steel’s latest state-of-the-art product, Coretinium® is now launched during the sheet metal event Blechexpo 2015 in Stuttgart, Germany. This new innovative product will be the material of choice for the European building and transportation market segments, being one of the primary targets.
Coretinium® is combining two high performance materials: an optimised polypropylene honeycomb core which is both light and rigid and two steel skins. The steel faced thermoplastic honeycomb sandwich solution is not only lightweight but also mechanically performing and well insulating material whereas the amount of resources used is minimal. The combination of the TATA’s anticorrosion steel coating technology and the sandwich concept brings very high rigidity to weight ratio and opens new perspectives for the competition with aluminium and other materials.
